My Mums Day

It’s easy to get so immersed in the right now issues and forget that life is a series of up and downs and to remember all the good times. I’m not sure where I heard this, but history doesn’t need us now, it’s done and we can’t change it. The only influence we have is on the future, so we should choose to remember the bits we like, don’t make the same mistakes again and go on forward.

Today I’m going to share a bit about my Mum and remember who she was and what she achieved whilst all the time being the best Mum to me.

Amy Yoxall, born in Manchester UK, one of four sisters who grew up over their fathers’ butchers’ shop and did the deliveries after school.

In the mid 50’s she followed my Dad out to Nigeria where he had taken the role of general manager of a printing works and they stayed for twelve years.

I’m not 100% sure where this was taken but I think it was in Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, most likely on the way to Liverpool UK from Lagos, Nigeria, a trip we did many times.

The mail vessel Apapa, Lagos to Liverpool took 2 weeks.

During the second world war, Mum’s job was the assembly of the cockpit instruments for the Lancaster Bomber, so her electrical license meant she changed all the plugs at home, a constant get out for Dad lol.

Happy mother’s day Mum, I know you wanted to do even more with your time here, but knowing you, you’ll be back one day to have another crack. :-)
